A crude insult on CNN’s “Situation Room” hosted by Wolf Blitzer resulted in no apparent sanction. President Obama’s former green jobs czar, Van Jones, called Mitt Romney a “douche” twice during a political panel discussion yesterday hosted by CNN’s senior political analyst Gloria Borger. They were discussing the tightening of the race among women voters
The only response at the time was Borger saying “Those are strong words,” and “find better adjectives” to describe Romney. Jones returned to the program a short time later and apologized.
This is a relatively rare instance when probably someone in management called for a retraction. We believe it should have gone further than that with some kind of sanction. Often management doesn’t seem to value civility or respect though they do value the bottom line.
