MSNBC’s Chris Matthews lost it during post-debate coverage late last night. He started out tamely with “I don’t know what he was doing out there, he had his head down, he was enduring the debate rather than fighting it.”
“I don’t know what he was doing out there. I don’t know how he let Romney get away with the crap he threw out tonight.”
At another point, he said, “We have our knives out. Obama should watch MSNBC, my last point. He will learn something every night on this show and all these shows. This stuff we’re watching, it’s like first grade for most of us. We know all this stuff.” He apparently was saying that the President should have known how to rebut Romney.
UPDATE, October 4th On his “Hardball” program tonight, he paraphrased Romney, saying “I don’t give a rat’s behind” about the 47%.
Surely, the privilege of being on TV should carry with it responsibility to be civil. Matthews has been quoted here too many times.
