Fox News error might have been much worse

Fox News anchor Shepard Smith saved the network from even more embarrassment after it aired live a high-speed police chase in west Phoenix, Ariz. that ended with the suspect shooting himself to death. The gruesome scene unfolded live yesterday despite the network putting the feed on tape delay just in case it ended badly.

Smith immediately apologized for the error and station management later repeated the apology and attributed the mistake to a “severe human error.”

The anchor is one of the only hosts on Fox News who does not lean sharply to the right. Overall, the network balances the severe left-wing slant of MSNBC.

The Fox News online story of the chase and its subsequent apology was on its home page until about 11 o’clock this morning and then was available through a search.
