Sen. Harry Reid accused presumptive GOP candidate Mitt Romney of not paying taxes for 10 years but offered no evidence, citing only one anonymous source at first, and later adding more anonymous people.
Liberal Paul Begala (pictured) appeared on “Anderson Cooper 360” last night with conservative Mary Matalin. When Cooper said Begala can’t justify Reid’s statement, Begala replied, “Watch me.”
He said there is “tons of evidence” of Romney’s tax avoidance, an “incredible history.”
But that wasn’t the question. Cooper was searching for proof that the candidate didn’t pay for a decade. Begala offered none.
Begala is irresponsible for, in effect, convicting Romney without a trial. In this case, it’s the lack of definitive confirmation that’s missing.
