The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell scored an exclusive interview last night with the woman who came forward earlier this week to claim a 13-year affair with Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain.
Ginger White, an Atlanta businesswoman, said it was a sexual
relationship though the sex ended several years ago. She was asked to respond to Cain’s comments about her, saying in essence that she was a friend, but that’s all, though he gave her money for month-to-month bills from time to time and hadn’t told his wife about the relationship.
Another guest, an editor for the New Hampshire Union Leader, Drew Kline, participated in the editors interview with Cain on Wednesday. Said O’Donnell, “Drew, I just have to ask you right off the bat, anybody in that room believe Herman Cain?”
At the end of the interview, O’Donnell asked, “Were all of you editors able to keep a straight face throughout the interview?” Cline said, “Oh, sure.”
In our view, those questions are completely inappropriate. The question passes judgment on Cain, indicating he had the affair, when nothing has yet been proven.
